Seven years ago, my mom’s best friend underwent a kidney and liver transplant as the result of undiagnosed diabetes. She began having health problems two years ago and the doctors realized her kidneys were again failing. They were unable to find a new donor in time and Juliette passed away last week. The family asked that my mom give the funeral eulogy as they felt they were unable to do so. It was very difficult for her as she loved her friend so much. The entire time mom was reading the tribute, tears were streaming down her face. I began to worry she would collapse. She did make it through okay but I don’t believe she cares to repeat the experience. It was too upsetting for her.
